Vintage tag + tutorial

Dzisiaj w menu moja ostatnia stryszkowa inspiracja i tutorial na mediowe tło z użyciem ażurowych wykrojników Sizzix Mixed Media 660220. Tak prezentuje się gotowa praca, a instrukcje krok po kroku znajdziecie poniżej :)

Today's special is my newest project for Na Strychu and tutorial for mixed-media backgroud using Sizzix Mixed Media 660220 die set. Here is the finished tag and all the steps are described below :)

Mediowe tło / Mixed-media background

Przygotowuję dwa tagi – to będą dwie warstwy mojego tła. W jednym z nich wycinam od dwóch przeciwległowych brzegów ażur, a drugi pokrywam gesso.

I need two paper tags. I use my Sizzix die to cut openwork pattern in the top layer and I cover the second one with gesso.

Suszę gesso i aplikuję cienką warstwę gelmedium, a następnie przyklejam ażurowy tag. Całość (szczególnie ażurowe brzegi) zabezpieczam warstwą gelmedium, a po wysuszeniu ponownie nakładam gesso.

I dry gesso and apply thin layer of gelmedium to glue the top tag. I cover everything (especially openwork edges) with gelmedium and once it's dry, I apply gesso again.

Pora na kolorowanie :) Ja używam mgiełek, ale nadadzą się też oczywiście farby lub inne media. Dzięki temu, że wcześniej zagruntowałam podłoże, mogę dodawać wodę, tworzyć zacieki i bawić się kolorami. Na podsuszone tło aplikuję przez maskę pastę modelującą.

It's colouring time :) I use mists but paints or other media will work, too. Because I used primer before, I can add water to create some stains and play with colours. When it's dry, I apply modeling paste through the stencil. 

Po wysuszeniu pasty, postanowiłam jeszcze trochę pomgiełkować. Następnie postemplowałam nieregularnie całego taga i pokryłam go jeszcze cienką warstwą gesso, szczególnie skupiając się na pokreśleniu wypukłości. Dzięki temu, wzór z wykrojnika stał się wyraźnie widoczny, ale jednocześnie "zespojony" z warstwą pod spodem :)

I decide to add more mists. Then, I stamp here and there and cover the whole tag with thin layer of gesso, I focus on highlighting all the textures. It makes the die pattern even more visible, but it's consistent with the background as well. 

Wcześniejsze stemplowania zostały złagodzone przez warstwę gesso, dodaję więc jeszcze nową warstwę, dzięki czemu część wzorów mam delikatniejszą, a część wyraźniejszą. Kiedy stempluję po ażurze, staram się nie wciskać stempla pomiędzy rowki, ale dotknąć nim tylko wierzchniej warstwy, co dodatkowo podkreśla fakturę.

The patterns I stamped before are now less visible because of the gesso on the top, so I add more stamping. Thanks to that, I have some soft patterns and the rest are more clear. When I stamp over the openwork areas, I try to touch with the stamp the top layer only to emphasize the texture. 

Na tak przygotowanym tle ułożyłam warstwową vintage'ową kompozycję, a na koniec całość pochlapałam :)

I arrange a layered vintage composition on my background and splash everything :)

Tutorial: Tajemnicza paczuszka II / Mysterious package II

Czy pamiętacie mój projekt o nazwie "Tajemnicza paczuszka"? W ramach inspiracji dla Retro Kraft Shop stworzyłam Tajemniczą paczuszkę II i przygotowałam dla Was videotutorial krok po kroku :) Najpierw pokażę więc kilka zdjęć, potem zapraszam do obejrzenia filmiku, a na końcu posta znajdziecie dodatkowe informacje dotyczące wymiarów.

I trochę informacji uzupełniających. Myślę, że wszystko stanie się jasne po zapoznaniu się z treścią filmu, więc nie martwcie się, jeśli przed obejrzeniem tutoriala wygląda to na nieco skomplikowane. Gdybyście jednak mieli jakieś pytania, śmiało zadawajcie je w komentarzach pod postem lub video :)

Pierwszym krokiem jest ustalenie wymiarów koperty. Ja do stworzenia koperty o pożądanych wymiarach używam tablicy do kopert firmy We R Memory Keepers i narzędzia Box Buster. Box Buster oblicza wymiar potrzebnego papieru i miejsca bigowania.
Możecie także użyć innego pudełka albo czegokolwiek, co chcecie oprawić w okładkę (np. minialbumu). Wówczas zastosujcie moje instrukcje używając wymiarów wybranego elementu jako A, B i C.

The first thing is to determine the envelope dimensions. I am using We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board and the Box Buster tool to create an envelope of the desired dimensions. Box Buster calculates the size of the paper we need for the envelope and where to score. 
You may also use another kind of box or anything you like (eg. mini album) to put in the cover instead of the envelope and then follow my instructions using the dimensions of your chosen element as A, B and C.

Moja koperta ma wymiary 2,3 cm x 14 cm x 14 cm (A x B x C).
My envelope dimensions are 2.3 cm x 14 cm x 14 cm (A x B x C). 

Teraz należy stworzyć bazę okładki według wskazówek zawartych w nawiasach na obrazku poniżej albo po prostu użyć wymiarów, które ja zastosowałam. Doczytajcie, proszę, do końca, zanim odmierzycie wymiar D :)

Then, create a cover base according to the rules in the brackets in the picture below or just use the given dimensions. Please, read to the end before you decide about dimension D :) 

Potrzebujemy jeszcze jednego skrzydełka, którego szerokość H zależy od F i D, jak pokazano poniżej. Skrzydełko H musi nachodzić na skrzydełka D, ponieważ chcemy przykleić jeden jego brzeg do prawego skrzydełka D, a drugi schować pod lewym skrzydełkiem D, kiedy okładka jest zamknięta.

We also need one more wing and its width H depends on F and D as shown below. H-wing needs to overlap the D-wings, because we need to glue the H-wing to the edge of left D-wing and we want to hide the second edge of the H-wing under the right D-wing when the cover is closed.
